WestJet Review - by Edward

Based on my recent experience with West Jet they should go out of business. I have been a loyal supporter in the past but based on the gross incompetence and lack of customer concern , i will never travel with them again.I hope customers boycott them and put them out of their misery.

JUST WON 3 DAYS EXTRA AT AN ALL EXCLUSIVE JAMACIAN RESORT, VALUE ALMOST $1000.00. PROBLEM IS I HAVE TO CONFIRM TODAY THAT I WILL ACCEPT, TO DO THAT I NEED TO CHANGE MY WESTJET RESERVATION. YOU KNOW THE REST. WESTJET AFTER 1 HR AND 30 MINUTES STILL DIDNT ANSWER. THE WEBSITE GIVES A JAMACIAN NUMBER TO CALL THAT DOSNT WORK AND THE NUMBER THEY GIVE TO CALL IF IT WONT WORK IS A CALGARY # THAT PUTS YOU BACK IN THE SAME NO ANSWER CIRCLE. DONT TRY TO MAKE A CHANGE OVER THE INTERNET, MY RESERVATION DOSNT SEEM TO EXIST. THE SYSTEM APPEARS TO IGNORE ANY POSSIBILITY SOMEONE MAY WANT TO CHANGE THE RETURN LEG. THIS IS MY FIRSY AND LAST WESTJET EXPERIENCE, BACK TO THE HATED AIR CANADA THAT AT LEAST AMSWERS THE PHONE.

For years my wife has traveled via Westjet from Ontario to Halifax. Great service good rates. But she booked a next day flight nearly a week ago to see her mother who was hospitalized. Now it looks ominous so she has to cancel her return and book later.

No phone answers, Travelocity can't help, the web doesn't work and hours and hours on the phone over two days means nothing because music plays and no one answers.

I guess 13 is Westjetws unlucky number 'cause they are never going to recover to their previous high, and we all know that in the end that means goodbye (and good riddance).

WestJet Review - by a frustrated customer
November 27, 2009 - 13:35
Westjet does not seem to have any respect for customer's time. I have been waiting on the phone for close to an hour, for the third time on two consecutive days, and no answer!!!! Before you book, check Air Canada (or other options), sometimes they have better connection and cheaper rate. Once booked in Westjet, it's difficult to cancel or change, as calls are not answered for hours (read other messages here, they have the same frustrating experience). If you are thinking of applying your credit with them from past cancellations or changes, that too requires a customer service rep's assistance over the phone that I am finding very hard to come by. They have no respect for your or my time. Westjet's phone customer service is horrible and I find it one of the worst in North America as per my experience. It's time to stay away from them, and stay happy. There should be a '0' ranking available here. I gave them the lowest available.

I booked my flights in early Oct before the change to the new call centre/reservation system. Yesterday I noticed the rates had significantly dropped ($300 difference) so I tried phoning the call centre and was on hold for over an hour when my phone battery died. I recharged, tried phoning again, same thing happened (I don't have a landline). I took a screen shot of the lower rate and tried phoning from work in the morning. After holding for 50 minutes they told me I could no longer get the reduced rate and I should've booked it online last night - which I didn't do because I didn't want to be stuck with 2 bookings in case they wouldn't refund me. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told they don't have any on the floor. The only thing she could do was put my name on an escalation list and someone would phone me back in 3 days. This is the WORST service I've ever received. I will never book with WestJet again.

I have been trying to contact West Jet all morning to check on flight that we leave on tomorrow. I press the buttons directed to by their system, then it rings forever, then it disconnects me after a busy signal. This has been going on for well over an hour. Do I have to drive to the airport to get any service? This company used to answer their phone. Unfortunately their service is deteriorating and turning into just another frustrating airline to deal with. I used to have only good things to say about them, but this is ridiculous. Two thumbs down for the call centre!!!

Well for vacation packages go with someone like Sunwing or Transat holidays! They seem to offer the best deals and have been in the business for many many years. The service on board Sunwing is absolutely great!! I traveled with them last year to cancun and had the best service ever!!! Free glass of champagne, free headseats, and choice of hot meals served with red or white wine!! The crews are great as well! Sorry for your experiences!

Westjet used to be the best airline to fly with and the cheapest. I used their online 24 hour cancellation service weeks ago and they have not refunded my $$. Have spent HOURS on the phone trying to reach them. I am beyond MAD. I would not book anything with them until they figure out this HUGE MESS they have created. They are lucky they are the cheapest or I would never fly with them again. ANSWER YOUR PHONE WESTJET !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We just returned from a vacation to Hawaii this past week and like others have been total loyal Westjet "users" for about the last 5 years...( we quit using AC because of their problems). We decided to try and change our flight home from Hawaii, and after much frustration with not being able to get ahold of anyone while in Honololu had to go directly to the airport to have the change done........they couldn't print us a new confirmation, said it would be e-mailed, never received the e-mail......long check-in times, flight delays causing missed connections resulting in lay-over in Vancouver after paying big money to change the ticket so we could be home earlier ( forget that!) we spent that time sititng in the airport in Vancouver. Costs for ticket changes are totallay unreasonable. There is nothing more frustrating than not being able to communicate when you have a concern or need to make a change.......putting people through the "sitting on hold for hours' process is also not only frustrating but annoying .....when you are on a vacation, and have to spend precious time for this nonsense? We came home so disgruntled with Westjet only to find out that many others are also. It will be awhile before we choose to fly with them again.....in fact we are wondering if they can weather this storm.

They should focus more on their original business plan instead of trying to compete with everyone else. They seem to want to try and compete with the large charter carriers now! I prefer a holiday carrier for my holidays. I really like West jet for my domestic travel only!!
